FRequently Asked QuestIons

  • How long does it take to paint exterior of house?

Any paint job, no matter how big or small requires some prep work before the actual painting can begin. This is even more true when painting the exterior of a house. First, all loose paint needs to be scraped off and any cracks or holes need to be filled. Once the surface is smooth, it needs to be primed. This step is crucial as it helps the paint to better adhere to the surface and provides a more even finish. Once the primer is dry, it's finally time to start painting. Depending on the size of the house and the number of painters working, it can take anywhere from a few days to a week to paint the entire exterior. However, weather conditions can also play a role in how long it takes to paint a house.

  • Can you stay in house while painting?

It is important to allow at least two or three days for the paint fumes and drying time.

  • Best time to paint a house in Connecticut?

Spring. If the temperature is mild but not too hot outside then now would be an excellent time to do some painting!

  • When is it too windy to paint a house?

The best wind speed for painting is anything under 8 mph. This means that you will be able to stay on your ladder and finish the job without being blown off!

  • How long to wait to paint house after pressure washing?

You should always wait at least three days before painting exterior surfaces like wood or brick. These materials take longer to fully dry and it's not a good idea if they're still wet when you paint them with brush strokes!

  • Can you paint a house in the rain?

It is not recommended you paint the exterior of your house in the rain, as the paint will wash away. The interior surfaces of your house can be painted when it is raining outside as long you make sure that any rain does not enter through open windows or screens.

  • Is acrylic paint toxic?

Acrylic paint is generally considered non-toxic and safe for use in residential painting projects. It is water-based, which means it has fewer harmful chemicals compared to oil-based paints. Acrylic paint emits low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), making it a safer option for indoor use, especially in well-ventilated areas. However, it's still important to follow the manufacturer's instructions and take standard safety precautions, such as wearing masks and gloves and ensuring good ventilation during application.

  • Does paint dry darker or lighter?

Paint often dries slightly darker than its initial wet appearance. This change occurs as the water or solvents in the paint evaporate, leaving the true color behind. However, the difference is usually minimal. Various factors, such as the paint's finish (matte, satin, gloss), lighting conditions, and the surface being painted, can also influence how the final color appears. To ensure satisfaction with the chosen color, it's a good idea to test a small section of the wall and observe it as it dries.
